Indoor Gardening
Not As Hard as You Think
Germination-
All you need is container, soil, water and light (Not Full Sunlight)
A lot of seeds need darkness to little light to germinate- so do not question your source of lighting in the house.
Germinating your seeds. Keep soil uniformly moist. Not soggy. Do not let dry out. Cover seeds with soil 3 times its diameter. Temperatures 60-70 degrees. Sometimes A good place to keep your pots is on top of the refrigerator. You can put a plastic dome over container to help retain moisture. Once first seed sprouts prop open dome. When the rest of seeds have sprouted remove dome and put in lighted area.
Most germination occurs 1 to 2 weeks.
Seed Leaves are the first leaves a young plant sends up. Usually all seeds look the same at this time. True Leaves develop next.
The warmth for germination is no longer needed. You can keep at 50-60 degrees. And move to a sunny window. You do not want to set in direct sunlight.
Be sure to rotate so leaves do not bend
Watering is still important- even moisture- do not allow to get soggy. Delicately water- let them go to sleep dry.
Thin out week plants by gently pulling from soil.
Hardening off-
Place in dappled sunlight to more sun within a 2 week period. Continue to keep evenly moist.
